Eastlake seniors seeking stroybook ending to season

It was a storybook finish for the Eastlake High School girls volleyball team in its Mesa League match-up against east side rival Otay Ranch on Oct. 20, and the season isn’t finished.The host Lady Titans recovered from a five-point deficit, 18-23, in the third set of their best-of-three match-up against the Lady Mustangs before rallying to post a 26-24 victory and a three game sweep.

Mesa League boys water polo standings tighten up as teams trade wins in 2nd round

It has been an eventful last few games for the Hilltop High School boys water polo team. The Lancers have righted themselves from a 0-4 start in Mesa League play to suddenly become a legitimate contender for this year’s league championship by winning their last three league games, including a pair against teams ahead of them in the standings.

As one watched the progression of Friday’s Metro-South Bay League opener between the host Hilltop Lancers and Mar Vista Mariners, one got the district feeling that the team that had possession of the ball at the end of the game would likely record the victory.
