If you take a second to read the recent short La Prensa San Diego piece outlining Paloma Aguirre’s lawsuit against the city of Chula Vista you get a little peek into the web of corruption that SD political players weave that compromises your elected officials. This performative lawsuit (kinda like the dark side crusaders suing National City right now) has no real aim outside of the publicity it creates as the voting window begins to close in this supervisor race.
The Chula Vista city attorney had to recuse himself from this issue because he shares a consultant with Paloma Aguirre, who shares the consultant with Jose Rodriguez(National City City Council-member), who shares the consultant with…you get it. Paloma’s attorney, who specializes in labor apparently, represented the Chula Vista city attorney in a political lawsuit last election cycle. Oh yeah, and the consultant mentioned earlier…his wife is a major player in labor leadership in the county. Talk about a squeeze from both sides. This pair is like the trash compactor in A New Hope, except there is no R2D2 to save us from disintegrity. So you have a bunch of aspirational baddies giving in to the predatory structural reality. Of course.
You can’t win otherwise. Now, I don’t know enough about McCann and the Republican version mirroring this corruption, but he’s a real estate developer who profiles well to rise in this new right morally bankrupt conservatism. Someone who is confident enough to reach out for a commutation for a high school homeboy. Baddie behavior.
In National City, second term council member Jose Rodriguez is openly politicking for a pair that is suing the city using well traveled attorney Mike Aguirre. This lawsuit is laundering owning class behavior through resident advocacy rhetoric. The group admitted on record that they would drop their PRA onslaught if the city would rezone a property they are trying to purchase on National City’s east side. Interestingly, former National City mayor Nick Inzunza is advising the group. Inzunza had his political career burned to a crisp when his parasitic landlord activity was exposed while he was running for state assembly. Oh BTW…Jose Rodriguez tried to give Inzunza his reentry into relevant politics by trying to sell him as the new National City Port Commissioner recently. This was after ousting Sandy Naranjo because she didn’t play ball with the political port legacy establishment. (Way to go Ron Morrison-your vote sealed it)
Inzunza was following the path that all these career democrats covet. Local, state, national. They all would love to be like baddie congressman Juan Vargas. So here is the problem working class folks cannot ignore. Vargas sits without any significant opposition to his congressional seat. Unfortunately he is AIPAC bought, just like so many others who are supposed to be legislating progressively. This is so obviously relevant now as our nation illegally and immorally bombs a sovereign state while so many politicians on both sides of the aisle remain silent…through the genocide, and of course as this predictable imperialistic regime change project is ongoing. These local dems are silent on these issues as well.
So I say no thank you to the San Diego Democratic Party and its collection of junk peddlers. I’ll vote local for real ones and fight with folks that understand this corrupt establishment.
