As part of a $100 million grant, the San Diego region will be one of the first locations in the nation to receive new electric vehicle charging stations in anticipation of the release of commercially-available models (such as the Nissan Leaf) in 2011.
The project is the largest deployment of electric vehicles and charging stations in history and will help analyze vehicle use and evaluate the effectiveness of charge infrastructure.
The city of Chula Vista is helping recruit residents and businesses who may be interested in taking advantage of federal and state incentives for the vehicles and receiving free charging stations.
