What’s with this city?

What’s with Chula Vista. The first response to any new but ordinary question is no. During the drought of mid 1990’s, I called the city to inquire about diverting water from the shower to the garden to conserve water. City said no. Some years later they recommended doing just that.

When applying for a permit to extend the house towards the back of my property I discovered the city had rights up to nearly two feet from my house because of storm drain. Could this be negotiated since the plans were already drawn? No. Any effort to change this would run into thousands.

Now, when requesting help with the number of speeders on my street, I’m told there isn’t enough money to have a patrol car sit and wait for the offenders. Well, that’s not what I was expecting, so in lieu of that, installing speed humps (not speed bumps) would slow down the traffic without further stressing the police budget…. no. Why? Depends on who you ask – cost of installation, aggravates the already slow response time for the fire department, could cause a legal suit should an accident due to launching off said speed hump…. no.
