Tax and fraud workshop for homeowners planned

The Pacific Southwest Association of Realtors is presenting a free public workshop on property tax savings opportunities and fraud prevention resources for homeowners, seniors, families, and disabled veterans on Thursday, March 28 at the PSAR South County Service Center from 9:30-11 a.m. The Center is located at 880 Canarios Court in Chula Vista. Presenters of the event will include Chula Vista Mayor John McCann and San Diego County Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk Jordan Marks.

Information at the workshop will cover how homeowners can use tax portability to keep property taxes low if they decide to move, downsize or upgrade. Voters approved a 2020 California ballot initiative that allows homeowners over age 55 to access property tax savings when moving their primary residence.

After the workshop, information will be shared on a free real estate fraud notification service that protects county property owners against title theft.

Reservations can be made by calling (858) 286-6242 or visiting www.psar.org/taxsavings.
