Homebuyers can seek advice

Looking to purchase a home? Want to make improvements to your current residence? Having trouble making mortgage payments? Visit the free South Bay Homeownership Resource Fair at Chula Vista City Hall, 276 Fourth Ave.. on Saturday, June 26. The event, scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., is sponsored by the Pacific Southwest Association of Realtors (PSAR) and the Housing Opportunities Collaborative (HOC).

Potential homebuyers and existing homeowners will have access to valuable information and programs to purchase or improve their residence. In addition to the city of Chula Vista, participants include the county of San Diego, National City, Imperial Beach and the San Diego Housing Commission (city of San Diego).

Educational workshops will be held throughout the day providing information on preparing for homeownership, available first-time homebuyer programs, sustaining homeownership through conservation measures and assistance programs, and the short sale and foreclosure process. Vendors will include lenders, realtors, title/escrow, homeowners insurance, and information will be available on rehabilitation programs, utility assistance programs, appliance rebates, and energy conservation ideas. Interactive booths and “How to Clinics” will be offered as well as raffle prizes, food and refreshments.
