Annual check monitors health

The city of Chula Vista in a partnership with the County of San Diego’s Live Well program hosted its annual Love Your Heart event Wednesday morning at Chula Vista City Hall Building C.

“This is typically planned on Valentine’s Day every year because it is about the heart,” said Jennifer Dailard, senior communications specialist for Kaiser Permanente. “It’s a day where people can go and get their health looked at, at no cost, with no appointment.” Kaiser Permanente volunteer nurses were on site taking blood pressure screenings for Chula Vista employees and for members of the public.

Last Year’s Love your heart event held screened more than 50,000 people across the county and Mexico. Dailard said getting a blood pressure screening can help combat potential medical issues in the future.

“When people have their blood pressure monitored it can point to a number of potential medical conditions or could be a marker for future care or more tests,” she said.
