Thank you and goodbye

There is an old saying that “Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

In National City on June 5th the voters will decide on Term Limits. It is very misleading what Mayor Morrison is proposing. He is campaigning for Yes on ”B”and No on “C”. This is totally contradicting what he voted on in 2004.

When Morrison was a Councilman he supported term limits, saying without term limits politicians are perpetuating the job (Morrison is doing this). This is totally correct and 70% of National City voters agreed when they passed Prop “T” to impose term limits on the office. But now to grab more power for himself, Morrison along with special interests are spending approximately $100,000 to pass Measure “B”, they are trying to convince National City voters into repealing the very term limits he once supported. Measure “B” was written to provide a loophole for just one powerful politician and guess who wrote that of course – Ron Morrison. I have seen the signs in National City supporting “B” and against “C” and received a letter from Morrison also supporting “B” and “C”. Morrison’s group phoned my home and requested my support and I told them I am not supporting Morrison because he has served enough years. They said Morrison cannot run again they need to be trained they are being paid so they should be able to answer questions correctly.

Many National City residents are catching on and rejecting Measure B. The National City Firefighters and Teachers Association have come out against the most misleading deceptive ballot initiative in National City history. Many of us oppose the deceptive Measure “B” and organized our own campaign and are supporting – Measure “C” which preserves our existing term limits and expands term limits to all city offices. No loopholes and Measure “C” has a lifetime ban. After they served their terms, they are done. No exceptions and please no special elections!

Also we should not of had this on the ballot it is costing the City of National City approximately $65,000 but Morrison, Mendivil & Cano voted to approve placing this on the ballot – Why because Morrison does not want to leave his office as Mayor I think 25 years in office is long enough! Thank you for your service but it is time to say good bye.
