Santa Claus is back… and so is the Grinch

The city of National City is presenting its 13th annual Kimball Holiday event at Kimball park on Dec. 11 from 2 to 9 p.m.

The holiday celebration, which was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will feature a tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. following a community countdown to the big moment.

The free event will offer a ferris wheel, a real snow hill for children to play and sled the night away, a dance floor for all ages and community performances on stage.

Food and drinks will be available for sale, which families can enjoy while watching movies on the baseball field or while children participate in arts and crafts.

Additionally, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand for photos along with longtime rival, the Grinch. The Grinch, who once attempted to steal Christmas, has apparently redeemed himself and will also be available for photos at the event.
Parking will be limited for this event with A Avenue closed between National City Blvd. and 12th Street. The A Avenue parking lot and City

Hall parking lot will also be closed from 5 a.m. on Dec. 11 through 6 a.m. on Dec. 12.

Kimball Park is located at 128 East 8th St., National City.
