Public can peek at proposed districts

After reviewing newly released census data and following a public outreach process, On Oct. 18, the Chula Vista Redistricting Commission approved a Draft Redistricting Plan map, proposing adjustments to current Chula Vista Council district boundaries. The draft is now available for public input. Any adjustments to the boundaries will be used in future elections, beginning 2022. Public comment is open through Nov. 18.

There are three meetings where the public can provide input. The Redistricting Commission is meeting on Nov. 4, 6-9 p.m. for public input. The Commission meeting Nov. 18, at 6 p.m. will hear pubic testimony, make changes, and approve a recommended map.
Meetings will be held at Council Chambers, 276 Fourth Ave.

On Dec. 7, City Council will hold a hearing on the recommended map.
The public can attend in-person or virtually broadcasting Cox Cable channel 24, and AT&T/U-verse channel 99. Other ways to provide input is to leave a voice mail message at 919-409-5977, send an email with comments to redistricting@chulavistaca.gov. The public can also mail comments to Chula Vista Redistricting, 276 Fourth Ave., Chula Vista, CA 91910.
