Pizza, donut shop robber sentenced

A young man who participated in the robbery of a Chula Vista pizza shop and a donut shop was sentenced Feb. 4 to 12 years in state prison.

Tarel Dontek Homes, 22, of San Diego, was sentenced by Chula Vista Superior Court Judge Michael Popkins for the Feb. 25, 2020 robbery at the Bambino Pizza & Deli at 1392 E. Palomar St.

Homes pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery that included the heist at the Winchell’s Donut House in Poway the day before. He received credit for one year in jail since his arrest.

Deputy District Attorney Jim Koerber said Homes was previously on probation for a prior robbery. Homes had a true finding in Juvenile Court for residential burglary and attempted robbery when he was under 18, he said.

Another co-defendant, Alexzandria Annmarie Moya, 20, was sentenced in September to one year in jail by Popkins. She was released in December.

Koerber said Moya pleaded guilty to both hold-ups and three conspiracy charges on Aug. 13, 2020.

Awaiting trial on April 21 is co-defendant Christian Ledon, 20, who is also charged with conspiracy and the two robberies plus a charge of escaping from a Los Angeles area firefighting camp for low risk prisoners.

Ledon was serving a 4-year sentence for robbery and would have been paroled in July, 2021. The conspiracy charge alleges Moya rented a car and drove to the Acton Conservation Camp where Ledon walked away from. She allegedly drove him away.
Ledon was arrested at a car rental lot at Lindbergh Field days later when the car was returned.

Ledon has pleaded not guilty to all counts. Because he is an escaped prisoner, he is being held without bail at the South Bay Detention Facility.
