Options for bright lights at night

The United States of America will turn 242 years old on Wednesday, July 4.

To celebrate, cities and attractions around the county will host their own Independence Day fireworks.

There’s the ever-popular San Diego Bay Boom and the annual fireworks at SeaWorld San Diego.

The South Bay will have its own Fourth of July celebrations at various locations.

Chula Vista

Chula Vista’s 4th Fest will light up the night sky at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center, 2800 Olympic Parkway.
The fireworks display will be synchronized with music on 91X, Magic 92.5 and Z90.3, radio sponsors of the event.

Gates open at 6 p.m., fireworks are scheduled to start at 9 p.m.
There is no entrance fee, however parking cost $10 at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center campus. There’s free parking along Olympic Parkway and Lake Crest Drive.

Alternate viewing locations include Mountain Hawk Park, 1475 Lake Crest Drive and along Hunte Parkway between Eastlake Parkway and Olympic Parkway.

Mountain Hawk Park opens at 6:30 a.m., fireworks start at 9p.m.

At this location, Fern Street Circus will be providing free shows and kids activities.

– Bill of Rights

Aboard the schooner Bill of Rights for a four-hour sunset cruise on the San Diego Bay.

The schooner will place itself at the center amidst the San Diego Big Bay Boom’s fireworks display.

Crew members will provide hors d’ oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages.

Guests are allowed to bring their own food and beverages aboard. The cruise is from 5 p.m. to 10: 30 p.m.

National City

The city of National City and the National City Host Lions Club will host its annual 4th of July Carnival at Kimball Park, from June 29 to July 4.
The carnival features games, rides, food and drink items for sale by area non-profit organizations, and various entertainment throughout the week, including musical acts and contests on the city stage.

Events throughout the week include the Miss National City Educational Pageant and the Fourth of July fireworks display.

Carnival opens on Friday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Monday and Tuesday; 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and on the Fourth of July from Noon to midnight, with fireworks at 9 p.m.

On the Fourth of July, the Fireworks show will at 9 p.m.
Kimball Park is at 12th & D Street.
Imperial Beach

The city of Imperial Beach will host its l Fourth of July fireworks show at the Imperial Beach Pier.
