A May day set for alleged shooter’s hearing

A May 10 preliminary hearing has been set for Anthony Hillman Pollock, 36, who is charged with shooting a man in Chula Vista on Jan. 28.

Pollock is charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon in the 6:34 p.m. incident in the 600 block of Date Street. A man he was acquainted with was wounded in the side of his abdomen.

Chula Vista Police officers responded to a call of multiple shots fired and arrested Pollock at his residence in the 300 block of Morehouse Place in Chula Vista. He has pleaded not guilty in Chula Vista Superior Court.

Deputy District Attorney Derek Grilz said Monday the facts about the shooting have not yet been discussed in court. He said the shooting was not related to any other incident.

No arguments over bail have been made so far by either attorney. A judge set bail at $750,000 at the arraignment and he remains in the central jail. Court records say Pollock has previously been convicted of assault in 2003.
