‘Woman in the Mirror, A Dancer’s Journey’ returns to the stage

After successful runs at the Tenth Avenue Arts Center and Lyceum Theatre in 2012, San Diego Dance Theatre’s Live Arts Fest and White Box Live Arts in 2013, and the San Diego International Fringe Festival earlier this year, “Woman in the Mirror, A Dancer’s Journey,” produced by Devra Gregory and Inspiration Motivation Insight Talks, returns to the Horton Grand Theatre Dec. 4-21.

“Woman in the Mirror” is co-written and performed by Gregory, a Hilltop High School alumna, and co-written and directed by Jessica Bird, associate producer at the La Jolla Playhouse, script editor Thelma Virata de Castro, and lighting designer Areta MacKelvie.

An award-winning one-woman tour de force about the life of professional dancer Michael Jackson impersonator and Wiccan priestess Gregory, this fascinating journey weaves the threads of Gregory’s professional dance career, personal challenges and spiritual evolution.

Blending storytelling with dance excerpts from ballet to burlesque, exotic dancer to “MJ,” Gregory candidly shares her story of empowerment as a woman who embodies a male icon. Her performance incorporates humor, raw honesty, and true inspiration. The piece contains adult themes and is recommended for mature audiences.

Showtimes are Dec. 6, 11, 12, 18, 19 and 20 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 7, 14 and 21 at 2 p.m.

The Horton Grand Theatre is located at 444 Fourth Ave., San Diego. Tickets are available at http://WomanInTheMirror.bpt.me or by calling (800) 838-3006. For more information, visit the website at www.DEVasMJ.com.
