Weekend an opportunity to spend money close to home

As Small Business Season kicks off on Nov. 30, there’s no better time to support the small businesses that give Downtown Chula Vista the lively and cultured character it has today. Chula Vista is home to a wide range of small businesses, from independently owned boutiques and artisanal craft stores to family-run restaurants and coffee shops. In the spirit of the season, there’s no better time to focus on the entrepreneurs who give this city its character. By shopping locally, residents can find one-of-a-kind holiday gifts while directly supporting the growth of their community.

Downtown Chula Vista Association District Manager Dominic Li Mandri said this holiday season they are inviting the South Bay community to come to downtown Chula Vista to do their holiday shopping and support the local business community.

“Third Avenue is a great exceptional retail location that has everything that you need to get your family members or friends all in one corridor. We have plenty of retail options that offer unique gifts. Everything from retail, arts, toys for kids, and unique items you will not find anywhere else. We have a robust lineup of eateries and breweries, most of which offer gift cards. Not only can the members of the Chula Vista community come out and get a bite to eat and treat themselves to a holiday celebration, but they can also take home gift cards with them to give to their family and friends,” he said.

Li Mandri said the downtown district has become a local destination for the community.

“We have some great public spaces and some great health and wellness businesses. Salons, barbershops, spas, so there are a lot of great businesses to do your holiday shopping and also to treat yourself to some self-care and bask in this community that has so much to offer,” he said.

Third Avenue is perfect for discovering one-of-a-kind gifts and decor. Check off your holiday shopping list at shops like My Cup of Tea Unique Gifts, D’Via Art, El Cholo’s Kid, and Arts-Rec, where unique clothing, accessories, and trinkets are waiting to be discovered.

Chula Vista boasts a thriving food scene perfect for family gatherings during the holidays. For a pick-me-up amid holiday errands, cafes like Agave Coffee and Cafe and Gal? Café and Delicatessen offer an assortment of tasty beverages, pastries, and sandwiches. Restaurants like Lime in the Coconut and Acqua e Farina offer welcoming atmospheres and diverse menus, making them ideal spots for holiday meals.
