As the summer heats up, there are many simple ways to reduce water use indoors and outdoors. Outdoor landscapes offer many opportunities for water savings. Regardless of the type of plants grown, a tune-up of your irrigation system can usually yield substantial water savings.

Attention to sprinkler system management, maintenance, and needed renovations can conserve water while producing better plant growth. Talk to your gardener or Sweetwater Authority’s conservation team for information on the new irrigation controllers, rain sensors, and sprinkler heads, which make saving water even easier.

Sweetwater Authority offers free residential or commercial water-efficiency surveys. This program identifies areas that may lead to water savings, along with providing additional customer resources and information to assist in conserving our most precious resource.

To find out more about this free program, call (619) 409-6779 and leave a message. A conservation representative will contact you to schedule your survey, or call the main number, (619) 420-1413 and ask for conservation. Also, customers can find tips, links, and resources at www.sweetwater.org.
