Things To Do

Whether you’re a Chula Vista native or popping into town for the weekend, stop by Third Avenue in Downtown Chula Vista for exciting events the whole family can enjoy. This month the neighborhood is paying tribute to Chula Vista’s rich agricultural history with the famed 25th Annual Lemon Festival, the 2nd Annual Arts in the Park and welcoming brand new businesses into the community.

25th Annual Lemon Festival
Zest up your summer with a stop in Chula Vista for this year’s 25th Annual Lemon Festival presented by Grasshopper! On Saturday, August 13th from 11 a.m.- 6 p.m., the Downtown Chula Vista Association will transform Third Avenue into a lemon-filled oasis. Enjoy live entertainment from two stages, the Little Lemons kids area with inflatables and lemon-filled crafts, live lemon-themed chalk art masterpieces from six chalk artists, and snap some picks with our new “Tarty the Lemon” mascot who will be stationed at the Lemon Orchard installation next to Mmm…Cakes. We will also have a fun interactive art project called “When Life Gives You Lemons…”, where the community will be able to write inspirational messages on lemons to add to the tree, a Sun Burst Lemon Sculpture, which is a 6’ tall sun-shaped sculpture surfaced entirely out of citrus fruits, and lastly we’re going to have a lemon recipe cook off featuring some of our local businesses, with Mayor Mary Salas as one of the judges.

Don’t miss the chance to celebrate Chula Vista’s agricultural history with family, friends and neighbors and get ready to ‘squeeze the day’! For more information, visit LemonFestivalCV.com.

Kids will also be able to get creative at the Face Painting Stations, get crafty at the Hat Making Station and continue the fun at the Mermaid Grotto playing different games.
