The Village of Escaya: Families ‘love where they live’

Some years ago, a groundbreaking Gallup study called “The Soul of the Community” found that the qualities that make people love where they live include social offerings, welcoming attitude and beautiful surroundings.

The Village of Escaya in Otay Ranch features all of those attributes and more. The community is designed around three vibrant social hubs: a picturesque town center with an inviting mix of eateries, retailers and community services; an eight-acre community park; and an exclusive club for homeowners that includes a resort-style pool, clubhouse and wellness center.

“Our vision for Escaya is a beautiful, walkable, green village with lots of amenities to bring residents together,” said Halé Richardson, director of marketing for HomeFed Corporation, master developer of the 450-acre Village of Escaya.

The exterior architecture in the village is infused with farm, ranch and Spanish heritage influences, a respectful nod to Otay Ranch’s agrarian roots. The beautiful 30,000-square-foot Village Center will be a convenient walkable destination for everyday purchases, meeting friends for coffee, indulging in craft beer or a glass of vintage wine, or hanging out in inviting gathering spaces.

The amenity-rich central park will be a magnet for community activities with six soccer fields, a basketball court, adventure playground, and a grassy outdoor amphitheater.
Escaya’s current residents, which now number over 300 families, are looking forward to the early 2019 opening of The Village of Escaya’s two major recreational facilities: The Orchard Club and the Harvest Wellness Center.

The Orchard Club, a beautifully landscaped private club, includes a recreational pool/ lap pool combination, a separate children’s pool, cabanas, and a 3,700-square-foot clubhouse with entertainment space and a chef’s kitchen. The adjacent Harvest Wellness Center will have state-of-the art equipment and excellent programming for people of all athletic abilities.

Similar to the design of the public realm in Escaya, the homes feature quality craftmanship that reflect our past with modern design elements that speak to today’s relaxed outdoor lifestyle.

When complete, Escaya will feature 992 for-sale single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums built by three nationally acclaimed homebuilders, Brookfield Residential, Lennar and Shea Homes. These builders and their architectural teams collaborated with HomeFed on the design of homes in Escaya, resulting in cutting-edge architecture that is uniquely suited to this vibrant village.

There are 21 single-family detached home designs priced from the $500,000s to the $700,000s and six townhome designs priced from the low $400,000s.

Schools also contribute to the close-knit atmosphere of a community. The Village of Escaya includes a K-6 elementary school site adjacent to the park, which will enable kids to walk to school in the future.

The Village of Escaya is located off Heritage Road between Olympic Parkway and Main Street in Chula Vista. To reach the community from I-805, take the Olympic Parkway exit, drive east, and turn right onto the new extension of Heritage Road. Continue south on Heritage for 1.5 miles, and then turn left onto Santa Maya. You will see The Village of Escaya Welcome Center on your right.
