Downtown Chula Vista’s Outdoor Dining Guide
From morning coffee and a late-night drink, Downtown Chula Vista has the outdoor dining options that’ll have you soaking up the nice weather. Each restaurant offers its own neighborhood charm, allowing diners to find their perfect match. Grab your friends and family and spend quality time at some of your favorite local spots.
For those grabbing their morning coffee or a midday refreshment, choose from the many cafes lined along Third Avenue. Stop by Galu Café and Delicatessen to enjoy the crisp breeze on their side patio while sipping their signature lattes or munching on their carefully crafted lunch menu. If you like to people watch, sit at Grind House’s outdoor bar seating for a central view of the neighborhood. For the most important meal of the day, find breakfast options at Agave Grill and Café and the new local French spot, Suzette’s. With a wide range of local menu items, both will help you start the morning off right while you sit outside, breathing in the fresh air.
As the days stretch longer into the evening, it’s the perfect time to take advantage of the extra hour of light by eating dinner outside. Craving Italian? Acqua E Farina and Italianissimo Trattoria both offer outdoor seating, allowing diners to twirl their pasta with a sunset view. For those looking for comfort food, stop by Groundswell Brew Tasting Room to enjoy dinner on their back patio. Diners can choose from a menu of craft beers on tap and pair them with a choice of pizza and sandwiches.
Looking for a late-night nightcap or a weekend outing, Brewjeria Taproom & Kitchen is your destination. With a menu ranging from light to dark beers and everything in between, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Another local spot serving up craft beer with an outdoor feel is Bar Sin Nombre. Founded in 2017, Bar Sin Nombre offers craft beer in a welcoming setting. The venue is renowned for its extensive selection of beers, as well as their expertly crafted micheladas and palomas. Patrons can enjoy the lively “indoor-meets-outdoor” ambiance while perched on one of the stools that line the bar’s large open windows that face the corners of Third Avenue and Davidson Street.
New Art and Directories in the Neighborhood
Coming this spring, the planters around the neighborhood are getting a fresh look. Completed by local artists, the updated planters will add a pop of color throughout the neighborhood. The next time you stroll through the neighborhood, keep an eye out for artwork done by Lulu Q, a local artist trained in traditional Chinese painting style who blends painting mediums and drawing techniques.
Three of the designs were created by groups of local students, working in teams of two to four. Their pieces, all depicting the agricultural history of the region, highlight emerging talent while giving young artists the opportunity to experiment with new mediums and leave a lasting mark on the neighborhood.
The newly painted directory kiosks now shine in a bronze finish, blending with the beauty of Third Avenue. Each kiosk features vibrant lifestyle imagery, capturing the energy and charm of the district, while the included QR code offers direct access to the DCVA website, highlighting available local experiences.
Whether you’re dining al fresco or discovering new public art, Downtown Chula Vista offers plenty of ways to celebrate the season.
