South Bay Fish & Grill announces new owners

Located on the Chula Vista bay front, South Bay Fish & Grill has retained a new owner.  Chuck Ross has sold the restaurant to Ehab Khalil, Joseph Zakhary and Eduardo Martins of the New England Restaurant Group. New England Restaurant Group also purchased San Diego Catering Concepts from Ross.  The purchase price was not disclosed.

“I will miss being involved with South Bay Fish & Grill, but I will still continue to be an active member of the South County and specifically Chula Vista,” said Ross, a longtime member of the Chula Vista Kiwanis Club. “This will give me more time to focus on my other ventures, such Fiesta de Reyes and the Cosmopolitan Hotel & Restaurant in Old Town.”

Even though Ross sold the business, he still maintains ownership of the building at 570 Marina Parkway in Chula Vista. He will continue his membership in South County organizations such as the Chula Vista and Otay Mesa chambers of commerce, South County Economic Development Council and Chula Vista Kiwanis.

New England Restaurant Group owns several restaurants in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, including New England Pizza, Zoe’s Pizza and Seafood, Mozzarella Pizza and Seafood, America Pizza and Grill, and Portabella’s Pizza and Seafood. South Bay Fish & Grill is its first venture on the West Coast.

Ross, a San Diego resident for 28 years, is founder and president of Old Town Family Hospitality Corp., which operated the Casa de Reyes restaurant and Barra Barra Saloon in Old Town.    For more information about Chuck Ross, visit fiestadereyes. com.
