Chula Vista is set to welcome a new standard in health and wellness this winter. Life Time, the luxury fitness and wellness brand known for combining resort-style amenities with athletic programs, is opening its first ground-up San Diego County location in Otay Ranch.

Located at 1650 Main St. West in the Cota Vera community, the two-story, 85,000-square-foot club is designed to be more than a place to exercise. Members will be able to enjoy outdoor and indoor pickleball, laps in the resort-style pool, healthy meals and smoothies from LifeCafe, and recovery time in the sauna, steam room, or cold plunge — all in one location.

“We’re incredibly excited to open Life Time Otay Ranch in Chula Vista — this is our second Life Time in San Diego County,” said Andrew Dewey, general manager of the new club. “Our first location opened in La Jolla in 2019, and this one is the first to be built from the ground up. We’ve seen huge demand for a destination like this in Otay Ranch and believe it will quickly become a community hub offering a country club-style experience without the country club price tag.”

Inside, the club will feature a 26,000-square-foot workout floor with a full range of cardio and strength equipment, along with dedicated studios for yoga, Pilates, and group fitness. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the rooftop pickleball courts or relax poolside in shaded cabanas.

Families are a central part of Life Time’s plan. The Kids Academy will offer daily activities for children, ranging from sports and music to movement and mindfulness, allowing parents time to focus on workouts or recovery.

“Chula Vista is such a vibrant, fast-growing community, and we’re proud to be part of it,” Dewey said. “Life Time Otay Ranch was designed with families in mind — parents can focus on fitness or recovery while kids are active and learning in the Kids Academy, then everyone can come together over a healthy, delicious meal at LifeCafe.”

The club also includes LifeSpa services for massage and skin care, recovery suites with saunas and cold plunges, and a co-working lounge for members who want to blend productivity with wellness.

“At 85,000 square feet, Life Time Otay Ranch will truly be a destination for health, fitness, and family connection,” Dewey said. “We’ve brought together fitness, wellness, family time, and social connection in one beautiful space. Our goal is to make it easy — and enjoyable — for our members to live well and feel their best, every day.”

The Otay Ranch location is set to open in December. Memberships are available for early sign-up, and virtual tours and renderings can be viewed online.
