Poll without a positive purpose

Come on Star-News, don’t we have enough immigrant bashing without you giving ideas and a platform to anonymous and hateful people?

What is this poll [see May 18 issue] going to prove other than an issue that we see almost on a daily basis on television, and that is immigrant discrimination in a hateful manner? Don’t get me wrong, I understand we have immigration laws and they serve a purpose and that is to controll illegal immigration and since 9-11 these laws are more important than ever to protect our country from terrorist.

After the railroads were built in the 1800s Congress passed the Chinese Exclusion law in which thousands of Chinese workers were “repatriated” back to their homeland.
During the Great Depression of 1930s, Hispanics were also deported due the scarcity of work. During WWII Hispanics were allowed entry into the U.S. because their labor was needed for factory work due to so many men going to war.

The Japanese were put in detention camps out of fear that they could be spies, most of them U.S. citizens.

Many of the fears and hate towards immigrants, blacks, homeless, gays are alive and thriving thanks, I believe to the present administration.

I guess I got carried away a little. Your poll does not serve a positive purpose in today’s political, fearful, and reminiscent of Nazi Germany atmosphere.
