Pancakes and a time capsule

The Bonita-Sunnyside Fire Department is holding its Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 8-ll a.m. Along with serving pancakes, the Bonita Firefighters will be opening a time capsule from 1992. The time capsule was placed in the ground during the building’s dedication, 30 years ago.

The Bonita Firefighters Association, along with the Fire Department, will also be honoring the legacy of local legend Richard Pena, who passed away in 2014, according to Capt. Jason Oosterbaan in a press release. Pena was instrumental in the creation and placement of the time capsule, and “worked tirelessly preserving the history of Bonita.”
