New look, same result

Winning at home is crucial for any team with aspirations of making the playoffs especially in the Liga Mx.
More than halfway through the season, Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente has not found a way to win at home. However they have only lost once at Estadio Caliente. Nevertheless, it is getting to the point were a draw is not sufficient.

Last night the Xolos played different from their previous games at home, as they were very offensive since the opening minutes, different from this tournament when they are usually more protective and don’t take many risks.

Against Toluca FC the team made every effort to win but unfortunately another 0-0 was the final result, which drew many boos and hisses after the final whistle. The fans have been tolerant but now they want to come out on top when they play at home.

As visitors Toluca was committed to not losing and though they did not produce many plays they had a few opportunities to take an away win.

Solos midfielder Paul Arriola played his second consecutive game as a starter and he proved to coach Miguel Herrera that he should be in the starting lineup every week since his abilities create countless of chances for his team. Toluca defenders had a hard time stopping him and he took advantage of that throughout the entire game.

In the second half Toluca decided to defend the result and Tijuana dominated until the final minutes, when forward Enrique Triverio almost scored the winning goal when he sent a shot at goal but by good fortune goalkeeper Federico Vilar was able to protect his net as he sent the ball outside for a corner kick.

Tijuana has not played bad this season since they are the team with the fewest losses but they have seven draws, compared to their three victories.

Herrera said that his team needs to score goals and that the opposing goalkeeper was a factor in the draw.

“Since the first half the team that had a soccer proposal was Xolos, we were the ones that tried to win the game,” he said. “Teams are leaving with one point from here and we have not been able to get the victory that the fans want.”
