New, but not exactly new (I’ll explain in a second) to the South Bay community is Little Red Cafe in Imperial Beach. True to its name, the LRC is a little red house on the corner of 13th Street and Donax Avenue, converted into a quaint cafe.

This description and the area may sound familiar because this eatery was previously known as K-Pasta! Little Red Cafe is still owned and managed by the same couple, Annie and Kraig Kirsner.

Their pasta restaurant concept proved to be successful and now their focus with the LRC is to create a casual cafe environment where breakfast and lunch are served daily from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Customers can stop by to start their day with fantastic coffees or teas, a quick casual bite or take a seat in either of their two patios to have a meal and start the day slowly. There’s also a grab-and-go refrigerated cooler for those who need an extra quick fix en route to their next stop.

Online to-go ordering is also an option!

Little Red Cafe’s menu offerings are unique in that everything served here is handcrafted, homemade, organic and all-around healthier-for-you choices without compromising flavor.

All ingredients are sourced from our local farms and delivered fresh — you can absolutely taste the difference. They offer pastries, smoothie bowls, eggs, paninis, salads and pastas, all made in-house. For those who frequented this establishment when it was K-Pasta, don’t fret, they serve a couple of pasta options including a daily pasta special.

My menu favorites include the avocado toast, ricotta, pistachio and honey toast; green smoothie bowl, mangonada bowl (with homemade chamoy), kale and sweet potato hash and ham, Swiss and Dijon panini.
