Ex-Trojan Sampson’s two TDs spark SDSU past New Mexico

Right now former Castle Park High standout Demarco Sampson and his fellow South County teammates are riding high with the SDSU football team.

Sampson grabbed seven passes for 127 yards, including two touchdowns, in last Saturday’s Mountain West Conference 30-20 victory against the host New Mexico Lobos as the Aztecs moved to 5-2 this season, 2-1 in MWC play.

An elusive bowl game berth continues to creep closer.

Sampson scored on catches of 40 and 32 yards while ex-CPHS kicker Abel Perez booted three field goals totaling 36, 30 and 31 yards. Perez has kicked 12 field goals this season.

SDSU, matching its best start in 33 years, had the 31st most votes in this week’s AP Top 25 poll.
