The preliminary hearing for a former sheriff’s deputy accused of 20 molestation charges was re-set Tuesday for June 7.
Jaylen Devon Fleer, 27, waived his right to have a speedy hearing since he was charged last July with offenses that allege he molested four minors.
Fleer has previously pleaded not guilty to all charges and remains free on $800,000 bond.
The specifics of the case has not yet been discussed in court. Both sides agreed to delay the hearing from May 5 before Chula Vista Superior Court Judge Michael Popkins.
When the sheriff’s department learned of an investigation by Chula Vista Police on July 23, they placed Fleer on administrative assignment with no contact with the public. He previously had worked in the central jail, but was later removed as a deputy.
He worked as a sheriff’s deputy for five years. Several of the charges are misdemeanors, but most are felonies. The prosecutor said the victims were aged between 12-14 years old at the time.
