Emphasis on wellness leads to connections with nature, neighbors

Encouraging wellness is one of the cornerstones of The Village of Escaya in Otay Ranch, according to Kent Aden, VP and senior development manager of HomeFed Corporation, the master developer of the 450-acre community. The walkable village features a wide array of single-family detached homes and townhomes priced from the low $400,000s to the $800,000s.

“By making shared spaces – such as the Orchard Club, the Harvest Wellness Center, the Village Center, the 8-acre park and trails – the center of community life, we’re strengthening connections to nature and neighbors and encouraging physical activity,” said Aden. “We’re crafting a community where residents will be on a first-name basis with many of their neighbors.”

The Orchard Club’s centerpiece is a recreational pool/lap pool combination with a separate children’s pool, a large firepit and cabanas. It also features a 3,700-square-foot clubhouse with entertainment space and a chef’s kitchen. It’s sure to be the site of many milestone celebrations and memories.

The Harvest Wellness Center will feature state-of-the art fitness equipment, exercise studios and a variety of classes for people of every fitness level. A public grand opening celebration for both facilities is planned for early 2019 and event details will be posted on the Escaya website www.escayalife.com soon.

The 30,000-square-foot Village Center, which is under construction and planned to open in early 2020, will be a walkable destination for dining, retail purchases and neighborhood services.

The Village of Escaya will also be enhanced by a dog park; miles of dog- and family-friendly paseos; and easy access to Chula Vista’s extensive trail system and the future 11,375-acre Otay Ranch Preserve, the largest urban open space preserve in the San Diego County region.

“Research consistently shows that people are happier and healthier when they are connected to trees and natural surroundings,” said Aden. “We’re mindfully providing those opportunities very close to home for the residents of Escaya.”

The same thoughtful design aesthetics are found in the homes and townhomes at Escaya. Exterior architecture of the homes is infused with farm, ranch and Spanish heritage influences and the interior architecture balances functionality with today’s West Coast indoor-outdoor lifestyle. Floorplans emphasize large, open spaces for communal living and entertaining; luxurious master suites; and flexible spaces for guests, offices and hobbies.  Floorplans range from approximately 1,287 to 3,704 square feet.

Three nationally acclaimed homebuilders, Brookfield Residential, Lennar and Shea Homes, are offering 21 single-family detached home designs priced from the $500,000s to the $800,000s and six townhome designs priced from the low $400,000s. Approximately 450 homes have been sold and nearly 350 families have moved in.

The Village of Escaya is located off Heritage Road between Olympic Parkway and Main Street in Chula Vista. To reach the community from I-805, take the Olympic Parkway exit, drive east, and turn right onto the new extension of Heritage Road. Continue south on Heritage for 1.5 miles, and then turn left onto Santa Maya. You will see The Village of

Escaya Welcome Center on your right.
