Eastlake High School will host this year’s San Diego Section girls field hockey championships on Nov. 17. Finals in the Open Division, Division I and Division II tiers will be decided.

“Hopefully, we’ll play in it,” Eastlake head coach Robert Blas offered on an optimistic note.

The Titans remained undefeated in Metro Conference play after defeating host Chula Vista, 5-0, in a crossover game Monday.

Eastlake (10-1 overall) received two goals from Taylor Tropp and single goals from Marissa Garcia, Olivia Sekimoto and Paulina Gonzalez, who also picked up an assist in the victory.

The Titans dominated the game with 20 corners.

Blas and assistant coach Ashley Daily said the team, which lost only two seniors to graduation, is looking strong and playing well together at this point of the season.

Fifteen of the 17 players on the team have played at least two years together.

“The team chemistry is flowing,” said Blas, whose team has allowed just two goals all season. “We have movement and skills when it comes to passing. We want to continue to play strong defense.”

Eastlake, the defending Mesa League champion, entered the game 3-0 in league play while Chula Vista (4-8 overall) was 2-1 in South Bay League play.
