Winter is officially here, and Downtown Chula Vista is celebrating the season’s arrival while gearing up for the new year. The Chula Vista community made this year nothing short of amazing, and it’s time to reflect on the community spirit that not only showed up but showed out this year.
Shop Small, Celebrate Big
Holiday shopping starts now! With the holidays around the corner, there’s no better way to support your community than by shopping locally. December marks the end of Small Business Season, so finish strong by exploring the many unique shops along Third Avenue. With so many different small businesses to choose from, you’re sure to find something for everyone on your list. No matter if you are looking for new clothes, unique knick-knacks, or household items, there is a business along Third Avenue that is ready to help you pick something amazing.
Find some free time on the weekend to stop by the Chula Vista Farmers’ Market every Sunday, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Browse through the many artisan vendors for a gift that is truly unique. As you shop your way through the neighborhood, make sure to stop at one of the many local coffee shops for a treat for yourself! Find some holiday comfort with a sweet treat and flavors that reflect the season
Honoring Roots with the Heritage Chair
This winter, Downtown Chula Vista welcomes a new landmark: the Heritage Chair, a tribute to the community’s roots and spirit. Inspired by the traditional hacienda chair found in many Hispanic homes, it was crafted by San Diego Urban Timber artists and longtime Chula Vista residents Michelle Natividad and Jessica Van Arsdale. Vibrantly painted and rich with local symbolism, the Heritage Chair is both a work of art and a perfect photo spot. Look out for updates on the Downtown Chula Vista Instagram @downtownchulavista!
Looking Forward to a Bright 2026
It was a year of fun in the neighborhood, from beloved annual events like the Lemon Festival, Taste of Third, and Día de los Muertos to spirited watch parties for San Diego FC and the Padres, and new favorites like Movies at Memorial Park. The neighborhood had a year filled with nonstop family fun that brought everyone out to celebrate in true Chula Vista fashion. Whether you were coming down to support the businesses on Third Avenue or have a celebration in Memorial Park, we are grateful to everyone who makes the community great.
Next year, we are excited about the new additions coming to the neighborhood! Home to many of South Bay’s celebrations, Downtown Chula Vista is undergoing fun new additions that will help elevate local events and the weekly farmers’ market. There are so many great things going on in Chula Vista year-round, and we want the space to reflect that!
From cherished traditions to exciting new beginnings, Downtown Chula Vista continues to thrive because of you. Let’s close 2025 with gratitude and step into 2026 with renewed community pride.
