Former Chula Vista City Councilwoman Patty Davis passed away Tuesday July 30 from congestive heart failure.
Davis was born Oct. 1, 1950 in Louisville, Kentucky. She graduated from Ursuline Academy, received the US Army Walter Reed Nursing Scholarship and attended the University of Louisville. She later settled in Chula Vista with her then husband naval officer Rod Davis. She was a mother to two sons, Rod and Eric, and grandmother to two grandsons, Justin Daniel and Cameron Eric. Davis started her real estate career in 1979 as a sales agent and property manager and then became involved with the Association of Realtors Government Affairs Committee, through which she lobbied politicians on real estate related issues.
Throughout her life, Davis held a wide range of positions in Chula Vista, including serving on Chula Vista’s Economic Development Commission and Chula Vista’s planning commission, and serving as president of the South San Diego Bay Cities Board of Realtors. In 1998, Davis was elected to Chula Vista City Council, and later co-founded “Christmas in October,” a program with a mission to fix-up houses of low-income homeowners in Chula Vista. At the time of her death, she was still co-chairing “Christmas in October,” and chairing the Cultural Arts and Design Review Committee for the Port District’s Chula Vista Bayfront. A memorial service will be held for Davis Friday Aug. 16 at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
