Citizen’s Bond Oversight Committe has vacancies

Applications are being accepted for the Southwestern College Citizen’s Bond Oversight Committee.

The deadline to apply is Sept. 18, 2020.

Four appointments are available:

•One advisory or foundation representative to serve a two-year term;

•One senior citizen group Representaive to serve a two-year term;

•One business representative to serve a two-year term;

• One student representtaive to serve a one-year term.

Members of the committee are tasked with keeping thepublic and the college’s Governing Board informed about the expendicture of bond proceeds from Proposition R and Proposition Z.

They are also responsible for reiewing expenditures to ensure they are in alignment with voter sanctioned projects, and providing an annual report that summarizes the committee’s proceedings and activities.

Currently the CBOS meets quarterly, with occasional meetings to discuss particular issues or to make site visits.

Applications will be reviewed by college staff and a recommendation will be made to the college superintendent/president.

Candidates may be asked to participate in an interview as part of the selection process.

The college’s Governing Board is expected to make a decisionat its Oct.13 meeting.
