Chula Vista Earth Day this weekend

Presented by the Port of San Diego, the public is invited to San Diego’s largest Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 15 at Bayfront Park in Chula Vista. South Bay Earth Day is family-friendly, free to attend, and the event is held to build awareness about wholesome habits of sustainability practices, our impact on the planet, with interactive hands-on activities.

The event is curated for those already living an eco-friendly lifestyle, and for newcomers looking for a starting point in going green with workshops such as Zero-Waste Living, Food Waste Tips and Tricks, Ask the Recycler, and Electrifying Your Home. Other activities include a Fix-it-Clinic, Tie-Dye Workshop, free food waste kitchen caddy, free compost giveaway, artist alley, bike corral, and sustainable vendors.

Along with its vendors and workshops, South Bay Earth Day has food from several vendors, and live entertainment including Top Stock, Sandollar, and Seawall Prophet.

The Port of San Diego is sponsoring South Bay Earth Day through its Civic Event Program which supports free community-based events and activities around the waterfront in the Port’s five cities. For more information on the event, visit www.chulavistaca.gov/southbayearthday.
