Chula Vista celebrates Lemon Festival this weekend

The 26th Annual Lemon Festival is taking place in downtown Chula Vista on Aug. 12, and yellow is the theme of the day as the Downtown Chula Vista Association converts Third Avenue into a lemon-filled oasis. In tradition, there will be lemon-themed bites and sips, a lemon cookoff competition, two stages of live music, photo opportunities, arts and crafts vendors, and a kid’ zone.

“We’re very excited to welcome back the annual festival on Third Avenue,” said Downtown Chula Vista Association District Manager Dominic Li Mandri. “Last year was the first Lemon Festival post-pandemic, and it was a huge success, attracting over tens of thousands of attendees. It’s amazing to see the community come out and show their love for Downtown Chula Vista and celebrate its history! We can’t wait to see everyone this year.”

In addition to the Lemon Cook-off, which Li Mandri said will only be “sweet and savory” options this year, the DCVA is hosting its own lemon-themed costume contest.

“For the costume contest, it will be an Instagram contest where people take photos of themselves at the festival and post them,” he said. “Then we will review them at the end of the day to pick a winner.”
