Bonitafest, parade this weekend

Evil villains Cadwell von Fowl and Lickpenny strip the title of Miss Sweetwater Valley from the rightful winner in a plot to market a bogus cosmetics product in the 46th Annual Bonitafest Melodrama “Ms. Sweetwater Valley.” The musical comedy, based on the true story of the 1991 Miss Bonita Pageant, runs Sept. 27-30 at the Sweetwater Community Church Theater, 5305 Sweetwater Road. The 51st annual Bonitafest “Fun for the entire area” is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 23, and will feature a twilight parade performances from area residents.
During the Twilight Trail Parade, equestrians, walkers and bicyclists will leave from the Sunnyside Saddle Club Arena in Rohr Park at 6 p.m., along the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course trail, according to organizers.

“Bonitafest 2023 will be a bit more compact, but lots of fun,” said Bonitafest Chairman Max Branscomb. “Our evening street party after the parade will feature the Music Machine, Sound Unlimited and other talented performers from our community. There will be a generous book giveaway and lots of snacks!”

The 2023 host and hostess are Tony and Judith Tieber.
