The peak of summer is here and it’s time to soak up the sun in your favorite neighborhood. From picnicking in Memorial Park and hanging out with your pups to outdoor dining, there is so much to do in Downtown Chula Vista.
Park Days & Picnic Plans
At the center of the neighborhood, Memorial Park offers the perfect setting to slow down and enjoy the season with friends and family. Pack a blanket, lawn chairs, and a few games for an easy afternoon in the summer sun or keep things simple by grabbing takeout from a local neighborhood spot and settling into the grass for a laid-back picnic.
For something quick and satisfying, stop by Don Pedro Taco Shop and choose from their wide selection of tacos, burritos, and tortas, perfect for a relaxed afternoon picnic. Planning to feed the whole group? Pick up a pizza or two from La Bella Pizza Garden, a longtime neighborhood favorite known for its lively, family-friendly atmosphere and crowd-pleasing menu. If you’re heading to the park earlier in the day, Dame Mas Cafeina Coffee Bar offers a lineup of breakfast classics, iced coffees, and burritos that make for the ideal picnic starter. And of course, no park day is complete without something sweet. Cool off with a treat from SweetLife Ice Cream Shop before settling into the grass and soaking up the sunshine.
Dog Days & Patio Hangs
Summer outings are always better with your furry friends by your side. Spend the season getting out of the house together and enjoying one of the neighborhood’s many outdoor dining spots. The patio at Groundswell Brew Tasting Room is perfect for relaxing in the San Diego breeze while digging into classic comfort food in a laid-back setting. If you’re looking for an earlier outing, head to one of the neighborhood’s newer additions, Suzette French Cuisine, where the charming outdoor patio brings a little taste of a European summer right to Downtown Chula Vista.
Want to spoil your pet with a treat? Pupcups are all the rage, but level up treat time by grabbing your pet its very own dessert at Paw Pleasers. Their wide selection of treats will have any animal excited, but it’s their pet-friendly cookies and cakes that steal the show. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday or simply enjoying the summer season, your pet can join in the fun, too.
