Follow the money to Chula Vista

Friends, is Chula Vista for sale? Well here we go again.

Stunning news from contribution reports filed with city clerk: YES ON A,.Mayor Mary Salas Chairperson.

Records show that over $48,000 of the $76,000 that they have raised, comes from out of town big money contributors and developers! Yikes. Clearly, Mayor Salas has decided to call in the special interest heavy hitters that will bankroll the “yes on A” media propaganda blitz that is about to hit your mailbox. Take a look for yourself at this dubious wall of shame:
HomeFed of Carlsbad: $20,000
Baldwin Co. of Irvine $10,000
Merridian Communities $5,000
Chestnut Properties $1,000
Sycuan $10,000
Hami Mani $ 2,500
3rd and K project
Other notables: CV Fire Fighters Union $20,000
Mobile home owners= $7,500

Just Say NO on “A” wonders what kind of “pay to play” deals Mayor Salas has struck with the above clients of the city? These huge sums of money are not given without huge expectations in return. The speed in which Salas was able to raise these funds in about one week’s time should not go unnoticed as well.

We urge Chula Vistans to follow the money. The trail of this money will lead to keeping the status quo intact. That means the financial morass the city finds itself in as a result of reckless public safety pay, benefits and retirements will continue leading to the inevitable bankruptcy of Chula Vista.

City staff has admitted to the media in previous articles that pension debt is schedule “to triple”. City staff in the same article said measure “A” “is a short term solution”. In essence, by this de-facto admission by city staff, it is only a matter of time before the city will have ask taxpayers again, again and again to bail them out from their terrible deals they have cut.

Do Salas and the council care about the nearly 14 percent (census records) / 33,000 at poverty level and the 19,000 or so in fixed incomes that always pay the most in regressive sales taxes?

So the rich fat cats shown above want to stick it to the poor so they can enrich themselves. Just Say No on “A” wants you to know! Join our movement! Tell the mayor your city is not for sale!
