Titans scorch Red Devils, 52-14; remain South Countyโ€™s top-ranked team, No. 3 in San Diego Section Phillip Brents | Fri, Oct 11 2013 01:28 PM

The Eastlake Titans (5-1) remained undefeated (5-0) in San Diego Section competition after defeating visiting Sweetwater, 52-14, in a non-league clash last Friday. The Titans led 42-0 at halftime.

Isiah Olave scored three touchdowns — two on runs and one on a 42-yard pass completion from quarterback Izzack Morales. The EHS signal-caller also completed a 17-yard scoring pass to Dean Klaser, who later scored on a 44-yard burst to close out scoring for the hosts. Greg Bell scored on a 10-yard run and Traylon Reed scored on a 74-yard run to account for Eastlake’s seven touchdowns in the game. Juan Naranjo kicked a 24-yard field goal for the Titans in the third quarter.

Sweetwater rushed for 161 yards, led by Antonio Garcia with 101 yards on 10 carries. Garcia also caught an 86-yard scoring pass from Christian Amon to account for both SuHi touchdowns.


Manny Rodriguez returned an intercepted pass 20 yards for a touchdown and later scored on a 56-yard pass reception to help lead the host Eagles. Olympian (4-2) led 21-0 after the first quarter and 35-0 at halftime. Rey Osuna scored on a three-yard run, Aqel Carson broke loose on a 58-yard scoring run, Ed Galloway scored on a 27-yard run and Will Lampkin scored on an eight-yard run to round out scoring for the Eagles in the non-league encounter. Montgomery dropped to 2-3.

Freshman Anthony Posada passed for 118 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Barons (3-3) in the non-league game. Robert Garza caught two of Posada’s scoring passes to finish the game with four catches for 89 receiving yards. Garza’s 43-yard TD score in the fourth quarter proved to be the game winner. Marco Morales completed touchdown passes to Hunter Allen and Evan Bebee for the Crusaders (1-4).

Chula Vista 35, Castle Park 7

The visiting Spartans put the game away with 21 fourth-quarter points. Jaylon Candler scored on a pair of two-yard runs, Javyon Reed scored on another two-yard run and quarterback Hunter Gotto passed 42 yards to A. Torres and closed out scoring on a 14-yard run to lead Chula Vista (2-3). Jordan Danielson scored on a 14-yard run for Castle Park (2-3).
Mar Vista 14, Santana 6
Jimmie Hill rushed for 155 yards on 22 carries and scored one touchdown while Pono Cavaco had one rush for an 80-yard score to lead the Mariners (2-3). The Mar Vista defense was active with five sacks, one forced fumble and one interception against the Sultans (0-6).

San Ysidro 34, Calipatria 18

Carlos Campos rushed for 222 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the Cougars (2-3). Alejandro Cazares (eight carries, 87 yards) and Oscar Fausto (10 carries, 53 yards) also scored on touchdown runs.
