Southwestern women hoopsters fall, 71-67, to Saddleback in rematch Tom Basinski | Thu, Nov 29 2012 10:53 AM

Coach Darnell Cherry’s Southwestern College women’s basketball team hoped to avenge a 54-50 overtime loss to the Saddleback Gauchos just 11 days before. But revenge was not to be as Saddleback prevailed once again by four points Tuesday at Southwestern. The Lady Jaguars now have a 3-5 record.

Southwestern trailed by 10 points at halftime, 39-29. Saddleback’s lead ballooned to 15 points midway through the second half until Southwestern came alive to narrow the margin to three points with seconds remaining. Alexis Harris and Shanesha Clayton led Southwestern with 18 and 15 points, respectively, while Karla Roacho-Cota dropped in 13 for Saddleback.
