Southwestern outlasts Cuyamaca in men's basketball regular season finale Tom Basinski | Mon, Feb 25 2013 12:39 PM

In a contest that potentially could have been decided by attrition, the Southwestern Jaguar men’s basketball team defeated the Coyotes of Cuyamaca, 66-53, in last Friday’s Pacific Coast Athletic Conference regular season finale.
Because of defections and suspensions, Southwestern thought it would be thin with seven players active for the game. Due to a rash of injuries, Cuyamaca fielded only six healthy bodies themselves.
The sparse crowd witnessed a seesaw first half that found Cuyamaca leading 33-32 at the break. Southwestern overcame that small deficit to realize their 13-point victory margin.
David Scarafone sank a flurry of three-pointers to lead the Jaguars with 19 points, while Dominique Miller added 16 points, and Darnell Williams chipped in with 14 points.
Garret Larch-Miller led the Coyotes with 14 points while Manny Hernandez and Kiko Moore added 12.
The Coyotes finished the season with a record of 7-19, while Southwestern closed out at 9-16.
