South Coast Water Polo Club records runner-up finish in San Diego Shoot Out tourney

The South Coast Water Polo Club’s 18U team kicked off its summer season by recording a second-place finish at the recent San Diego Shoot Out tournament.

The team finished 4-1 at the event, held June 19 at Steele Canyon High School, with victories against Norse/Valhalla (7-4), Southbay/Eastlake (13-3), SeaWolf/West Hills (9-4) and Sunset/Clairemont (9-4) and a loss to EC Grossmont (4-2).

East County Summer League action has also started. In a 16U girls game played June 20 at El Capitan High School, South Coast defeated the Wolfpack team 9-6. In an 18U girls game played June 21 at Valhalla High School, South County defeated SeaWolf by a score of 9-4.

South Coast includes participants from Mar Vista, Hilltop, Olympian, Otay Ranch, Eastlake, Southwest and Monte Vista high schools. SCWP welcomes new participants and is holding open tryouts Saturday mornings.
