The Metro Conference diving championship meet took place Wednesday at the Parkway pool. Twenty-one divers participated, with the top eight place-winners in both the boys and girls field receiving medals.
There were no South Bay League entrants this season; all 21 divers were from the Mesa League.
Otay Ranch junior Zully Maldonado became that school’s first-ever girls league diving champion by recording an automatic CIF qualifying mark of 189.65 points.
Hilltop senior Aaron Siaumau captured the boys diving title with 192.85 points, also eclipsing the CIF automatic entry standard.
Three additional divers met the CIF consideration standard: Otay Ranch’s Abrahan Mercado (161.90 points) and Bonita Vista’s Chris Moore (147.15 points) in the boys field and Hilltop’s Kennedy Miranda (148.15 points) in the girls field.
Both Maldonado and Siaumau earned further recognition as the 2012 Mesa League divers of the year.
