Otay Ranch girls water polo team racks up two more victories Phillip Brents | Fri, Dec 21 2012 01:37 PM

Otay Ranch picked up a pair of key non-league victories to improve to 4-1 on the season. The Mustangs sank Point Loma, 15-1, on Dec. 6 at the Bud Kearns pool and topped Mission Hills, 13-7, on Dec. 12 at the Loma Verde pool.

Sarah Medina set a new school record with 13 steals in the win over Mission Hills. She also racked up 10 goals and one assist. Gabby Nunez, Camy Benitez and Fernanda Arambula each contributed a goal and assist while Emma Cornwell collected 13 saves, one steal and one assist.

Medina led Otay Ranch with 11 goals, one assist and eight steals in the victory against Point Loma. Arambula and Cailn Lechner each contributed two goals, one assist and three steals while Cornwell had 12 saves. Medina has scored 53 of her team’s 81 goals, including two scrimmages.
