Lady Lancer football clinic slated July 16 at Hilltop High School

The inaugural Lady Lancer Football Academy is scheduled July 16 at Hilltop High School and promises to be a fun event, according to Alex Tejeda, president of Hilltop’s football team booster club.

“We’re hoping to make this a yearly event,” Tejeda explained.

The event, which is open to females of all ages who wish to learn more about the game of football, will serve as a fundraiser for the booster club as well as a fundraiser to help support breast cancer research.

The cost to attend is free, but a $20 donation is suggested — half of which will go toward breast cancer research and half to the school’s football program.

The event will take place on the school’s football field and will include instruction in learning drills, strategy and basics of the game. An intraquad scrimmage between females in attendance will cap the fun-friendly and informative event.

Participants should bring athletic gear, athletic shoes and a great attitude to the event, Tejeda said.

Hilltop High School head football coach Drew Westling as well as team members and cheerleaders will be present at the event.
