The Hilltop High School girls lacrosse team’s rampage through the Metro Conference continued with two more lopsided victories: 10-0 against the visiting Eastlake Titans on March 29 and 15-5 against the host Mar Vista Mariners on Monday.
The Lancers improved their league record to 4-0 and upped their overall mark to 11-1 on the season.
Nicci Coyle led Hilltop in the win over Eastlake with two goals and two assists while Kasey Simonds collected two goals and one assist, Laurel Coleman and Auroa Clark each scored two goals, Natalie Coyle contributed a goal and assist and Brigette Young scored once.
The Lancers led 7-0 at halftime.
Angelica Delgado recorded nine goalie saves to post the shutout victory — her second this season and second consecutive following a 14-0 decision three days earlier against visiting Otay Ranch.
Hilltop roared to an 8-3 halftime lead in Monday’s contest and closed out the game with a 7-2 scoring edge in the second half.
Young led the victors with four goals and two assists while Simonds contributed five points on four goals and one assist. Hannah Teague scored three times while Nicci Coyle had a goal and assist and Jalissa Pressley, Chelsea Ventura and Natalie Coyle each scored once. Coleman and Brianna Duplessis each were credited with one assist.
Mar Vista (0-3 in league, 0-7 overall) scored on five of nine shots taken against Delgado. Hilltop finished the game with 22 shots.
Nicci Coyle leads the Lancers in season scoring with 36 goals and 16 assists in 12 games, followed by Simonds with 24 goals and eight assists, Young with 18 goals and eight assists, Teague with 14 goals and one assist and Coleman with 12 goals and three assists.
Delgado has stopped 62.5 percent of shots taken on her.
South Bay Family Lacrosse Night set April 19 at Otay Ranch High School
BOYS LACROSSE: Thursday’s upcoming Eastlake-Otay Ranch boys lacrosse game at Otay Ranch High School (5 p.m. start) will have an added attraction as the South Bay Outlaws youth program will be showcased in the inaugural South Bay Family Lacrosse Night with a special halftime scrimmage game involving its two middle school teams. Otay Ranch coach Doug Murphy said the event is designed to promote greater unity within the local youth and high school lacrosse community.
