California State Games slated July 16-19 throughout county

The California State Games are returning to San Diego County July 16-19. Several sports will once again have South County venues.

•Archery will be contested at the Chula Vista-United States Olympic Training Center on July 18. Competition starts at 9 a.m.

•BMX also will be contested at the CV-OTC on July 18, starting at 4:30 p.m.

•Field hockey (seven-on-seven) will be contested at the CV-OTC on July 19. Divisions include girls U14, U16 and U19.

•The Jesse Jones Memorial Judo Tournament is scheduled July 19, at Southwestern College. Competition begins at 10 a.m.

•Soccer will dominate fields at the CV-OTC and Southwestern College July 18-19. Boys and girls divisions include U8 through U19. The competition format includes three pool-play games, followed by championship games.

Swimming (Granite Hills High School) and wrestling (Rancho Bernardo High School) are both scheduled on July 18. The water polo tournament (boys and girls 14U, 16U and 18U divisions) is scheduled July 17-19 at Coronado High School, Kroc Salvation Army Center and Helix High School.

The track and field meet (open, youth and masters divisions) is scheduled July 18-19 at Orange Glen High School.
