South Coast Water Polo Club is having busy summer

South Coast Water Polo Club's 12U coed team is off to w winning start in summer league action.

It’s been a busy summer so far for the South Coast Water Polo Club, and it isn’t over by any means.

Competition wraps up this week in the annual East County summer league play being conducted at Valhalla High School (18U girls), Montgomery Middle School (14-16U boys, 16U girls) and Monte Vista High School (18U boys).

South Coast is currently competing through July 29 in the San Diego County Summer Youth Leagues at the Valhalla and West Hills high school pools.

South Coast leads both the 10U and 12U divisions with undefeated 5-0 records.

This weekend the club will be featured in the annual California State Games tournament.

South Coast has entered five teams in this year’s tournament that takes place Friday through Sunday (July 13-15) at the West Hills High School and Coronado BBMAC pools.

South Coast entered five teams in last year’s State Games competition and collected four medals: gold in the 14U coed division, silver in the 16U boys and 18U girls divisions and bronze in the 16U girls divisions. The 18U boys team placed fifth in its division.

“Summer leagues are almost over and South Coast is looking at competing this week at the Cal State Games,” club program director Ernie Medina said.

It’s still not too late to get in on all the summer (and year-round) fun. The South Water Polo Club is accepting new try-outs on a daily basis. For more information, visit the website at southcoastwaterpolo.org.
