Woman stabbed lover

A Chula Vista woman  pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of her boyfriend and faces up to 12 years in prison.

The defendant, Xochilt Tobon, 26, admitted to stabbing Tyler Henderson, 24, in a Jan. 3 incident following a morning argument in the couple’s home on Santa Cora Avenue off East Palomar Street.

Sentencing was set for Nov. 15 by Chula Vista Superior Court Judge Kathleen Lewis. Tobon remains in the Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility without bail.

Deputy District Attorney Amy Colby said Henderson died from a single stab wound to his chest that penetrated his heart. The likely sentence is 12 years total.
