Water park still attracts

Summer time in Chula Vista is all about the sun, friends and  waves. Knott’s Soak City water park has a variety of slides and attractions where people can cool off while enjoying the outdoors.

Soak City continuously hosts events for their attendees, recently they hosted a Christmas in July event that ran from July 20 to 22, the event supported Toys for Tots as guests dropped off new toys for charities.

“You bring and you donate presents or you buy one and it goes to charities and you can take a picture with Santa Claus,” said Vannia Pena, a Knott’s Soak City employee.

On Saturday, Aug. 4, Soak City is hosting Filipino Family Day. The event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Although the water park’s main goal is for everyone to have fun, being in the water and sliding down the attractions can be dangerous. Lifeguards are always standing by ready to help someone out if they see an individual struggling.

“They (lifeguards) have three different types of techniques when they jump in the water to rescue a person — a duck pluck, a rear huggie and a front drive — so it kind of depends on how the person is struggling what way the guard will approach the guest,” said Isa Gonzalez, park services supervisor for Knott’s Soak City.

The water park is located at 2052 Entertainment Circle and the hours vary each day. Single day passes bought online are $27.99 and $33.99 at the gate, parking is $12.
