Water park looking for employees

SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment is looking to fill hundreds of seasonal positions for its newly acquired Aquatica waterpark at a job fair on Saturday, March 23.

The Chula Vista Civic Center Branch Library, located at 365 F St., will be hosting the job fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Those interested in attending must apply online at www.seaworldjobs.com prior to the job fair.

David Koontz, SeaWorld spokesperson, said the park is looking to fill culinary, merchandise and park operations positions. Lifeguard positions have openings too, he said.

“We are looking to hire people who are passionate, enthusiastic with a great attitude,” Koontz said.

Aquatica is the 11th water park under the SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment chain, and the first in California. The park was purchased from Cedar Fair, which owned Knott’s Soak City, for an undisclosed amount.

“This is an expansion to our core U.S. theme park business,” Koontz said.

Improvements are being made throughout the park, which include updated landscaping, architectural upgrades, improvements to the wave pool and a new water turtle exhibit, Koontz said.

The water park is scheduled to open June 1, though Koontz said start dates for several positions will vary.

According to a press release, applicants must have four days of unrestricted availability from June 10 to Sept. 2
Seasonal positions will run from June through September, Koontz said.

Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.

“(Working for SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment) will be extremely fun and a positive experience,” Koontz said.

“We are looking for guest service oriented people.”
